Syrian Salvation Government

The Syrian Salvation Government (SSG) was a Syrian Islamist opposition government established by Tahrir al-Sham on 2 November 2017 during the Syrian Civil War. The SSG was established as the Islamist rival to the secular Syrian Interim Government, and Tahrir al-Sham gradually expanded the SSG's jurisdiction by seizing large portions of Idlib Governorate from the pro-SIG Syrian National Army forces. The government was seen as illegitimate both by the government of the Syrian Arab Republic and by the Syrian Interim Government due to its ties to al-Qaeda-linked jihadist groups in the country.
