The Syrian Opposition is an umbrella term for the political structure that the Syrian National Coalition represented. The Syrian Opposition ranged from secular rebels like the Free Syrian Army to moderate rebels such as the Syria Revolutionaries Front and Islamist groups such as the Islamic Front and Ahrar ash-Sham. The opposition was formed on 18 March 2013, and the opposition was recognized as the legitimate representative of the people of Syria by the United States, many NATO countries, and the Arab League.
