Syagrius (26 January 451-486) was King of the Domain of Soissons from 26 September 468 to 486, succeeding Aegidius.
Biography[]
Syagrius Aegidius was born in Roman Gaul, Western Roman Empire on 26 January 451, the son of magister militum Aegidius. He succeeded his father as King of the Domain of Soissons in 468, preserving his father's territory between the Somme and Loire even after the collapse of the Western Empire in 476. He ruled his Gallo-Roman enclave until King Clovis I of the Franks invaded Soissons in 486 and defeated him in battle. Syagrius was later assassinated upon fleeing to Toulouse.
