Susan Grimshaw (1854 - October 19, 1899) was an American outlaw of the Wild West who was one of the leaders of the Van der Linde Gang.
Biography[]
Susan Grimshaw was one of the original members of the Van der Linde Gang alongside Dutch van der Linde himself, Hosea Matthews, and Arthur Morgan. She was once in a relationship with Dutch, but they remained partners in crime even after they broke up; over the years, Grimshaw established herself as the taskmaster and arbiter of justice in the gang. She organized the camps of the gang and provided lodgings for everyone, and she also enforced the rules; she personally killed Dutch's lover Molly O'Shea with a shotgun after O'Shea revealed that she had informed the Pinkertons of Dutch's plan to rob the main bank in New Orleans. She later confronted Micah Bell after discovering that he was a federal informant, but she was distracted when Javier Escuella announced that the Pinkertons were raiding the camp, allowing for Bell to shoot Grimshaw dead. Charles Smith later buried her in southern Arkansas.
