Surrey is a county in South East England, bordering Kent to the east, East Sussex to the south-east, West Sussex to the south, Hampshire to the west and south-west, Berkshire to the north-west, and Greater London to the north-east. Guildford is the county town of Surrey, and other major settlements include Elmbridge, Epsom and Ewell, Farnham, Mole Valley, Reigate and Banstead, Runnymeade, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, Tandridge, Waverley, and Woking. Surrey was a very wealthy county due to its proximity to London, and it was a stronghold of the Conservative Party. In 2016, Surrey had a population of 1,176,500 people.
