SCJL

The Supreme Command for Jihad and Liberation (SCJL) was an Ba'athist and Iraqi nationalist rebel group that was active from 3 October 2007. The SCJL was led by former Revolutionary Command Council deputy chairman Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, and it comprised 23 smaller militia groups. The SCJL sought to force the United States to recognize the patriotic, Arab nationalist, and Islamist resistance organizations as the sole legitimate representative of Iraq and its people; to force the USA to withdraw from Iraq; to halt the killings and explusions of Iraqis; to free all prisoners and detainees and grant them compensation; to reinstate former Iraqi Army and police personnel who were fired during de-Ba'athification; compensate Iraq for all of the moral losses and injuries suffered during the US occupation; cancel all legislation passed after the occupation; and hold direct talks with the resistance on implementing Ba'athist principles. It had over 1,000 fighters during its insurgency, fighting against the Iraqi government, Iraqi Kurdistan, and the Special Forces.
