Sun Jun (219-256) was the regent of Eastern Wu from 253 to 256 AD, preceding Sun Chen. Sun Jun was the lover of Sun Quan's daughter Sun Luban, and he was the regent for her brother, Emperor Sun Liang.
Biography[]
Sun Jun was born in 219 AD, and was a great-grandson of Sun Jing, the brother of Sun Jian and the uncle of Sun Quan; therefore, he was a distant cousin of the Emperor of Eastern Wu.
In 250 AD, he and his lover, Sun Luban, daughter of Sun Quan, falsely accused her brother, Sun He, leading to Sun Quan stripping him of his titles and, eventually, to his suicide in 253 AD.
In 252 AD Sun Jun became an assistant to Zhuge Ke, who was made the regent for the infant emperor Sun Liang. When Zhuge Ke refused to admit fault for the failed siege of New Hefei Castle in 253 AD and instead decided to wipe out all dissent, Sun Jun had him killed and became the new regent.
Sun Jun was known for his severe punishments and the ineffectivity of his reign, and in 256 AD he failed in his support of Guanqiu Jian and Wen Qin's Rebellion in Shouchun against the rival kingdom of Cao Wei to the north.
Wen Qin, who defected to Wu and became a general, asked Sun Jun for a major attack against Wei to restore Emperor Cao Fang to power, but Sun Jun died of illness. His cousin Sun Chen became the new regent after his death.
