Sulejman Tihic

Sulejman Tihic (26 November 1951-25 September 2014) was President of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 28 February to 28 October 2004 (succeeding Dragan Covic and preceding Borislav Paravac) and from 28 February to 6 November 2006 (succeeding Ivo Miro Jovic and preceding Nebojsa Radmanovic).

Biography[]

Sulejman Tihic was born in Bosanski Samac, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia in 1951. He worked sa a judge, prosecutor, and lawyer in his hometown before co-founding the Party of Democratic Action in 1990. During the Bosnian War, he was captured by the Republika Srpska's forces and tortured in three concentration camps in Bosnia. In 2001, he was chosen to succeed Alija Izetbegovic as head of the Bosniak party, and he served as President of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2004 and in 2006. He died in 2014.
