Suezo Hirata

Suezo Hirata (born 1945) was a homeless Japanese man who lived in Kabukicho, Tokyo during the 1980s. On 12 December 1988, he and four other homeless men were confronted at Public Park 3 by former yakuza Kazuma Kiryu, who was investigating Tachibana Real Estate, and they agreed to tell Kiryu about Tachibana Real Estate in exchange for drinks. Hirata, the leader of the group, told Kiryu that Tetsu Tachibana operated from the Golden Gai neighborhood. On 16 December 1988, he once again bumped into Kiryu when Kiryu came to the homeless encampment at West Park in search of refuge during his flight from the Dojima-gumi, and Hirata let Kiryu sleep in his tent, although he joked that he didn't want Kiryu to pull anything (homosexual), saying that he didn't "swing that way". That night, Kiryu would rescue Hirata from a gang of young "homeless hunters", earning Hirata's thanks before Hirata proceeded to beat one to death with a bat. On 18 December, Hirata paid back the favor by letting Makoto Makimura stay at his shack until Akira Nishikiyama retrieved her to meet with her brother Tetsu Tachibana during his last moments.
