
Stuart Clarence Graham (23 October 1920–20 July 1996) was a Major-General in the Australian Army who commanded the 1st Australian Task Force (1 ATF) during the Vietnam War.
Biography[]
Stuart Clarence Graham was born in Ulmarra, New South Wales, Australia in 1920, and he graduated from the Royal Military College, Duntroon in 1940. He served in a series of regimental and staff appointments during World War II, and he served in the occupation of Japan after the war's end. During the late 1950s, he became Director of Military Intelligence. In 1967, Graham was given command of the 1st Australian Task Force during the Vietnam War, and he established a controversial barrier minefield from Dat Do to the coast. He later rose to Deputy Chief of the General Staff, and he retired in 1977 and died in 1996.
