Stefano "Steve" Ferrigno (12 May 1900–5 November 1930) was a mobster loyal to the Gambino crime family under Alfred Mineo. In 1930, both Ferrigno and Mineo were assassinated by Salvatore Maranzano's gunmen.
Biography[]
Stefano Ferrigno was born on 12 May 1900 in Sicily, and he came to New York City, America as a child. Ferrigno grew up in Brooklyn, and he was affiliated with Pellegrino Morano's Camorra organization due to the fact that they were from the same neighborhood. During the 1920s, Ferrigno joined Salvatore D'Aquila's organization, and he was deeply involved with bootlegging, racketeering, cargo theft, gambling, and prostitution. In 1928, after the murder of D'Aquila, Alfred Mineo took over the family, and Ferrigno became his right-hand man. On 5 November 1930, both Ferrigno and Mineo were murdered by gunmen sent by Salvatore Maranzano to whack them at their apartment; gunmen fired on the two mobsters from a window. Their deaths were caused by Mineo's support of Joe Masseria during the Castellammarese War.
