The Steppe Front, also known as the Steppe Military District, was a formation of the Soviet Red Army which existed from 9 July to 20 October 1943. The Steppe Front was formed in the Voronezh region of southern Russia during World War II, consisting of six armies, the 4th Guards Tank Army, the Soviet 5th Air Army, and eight mobile corps. The front was formed by units that had fought in the Battle of Stalingrad and the Siege of Leningrad, and Ivan Konev led the front during the Battle of Kursk. In October 1943, it was re-designated the 2nd Ukrainian Front.
