Stephanie Grisham

Stephanie Grisham (1977-) was White House Communications Director from 1 July 2019 to 7 April 2020 (succeeding Bill Shine and preceding Kate Bedingfield) and White House Press Secretary from 1 July 2019 to 7 April 2020 (succeeding Sarah Huckabee Sanders and preceding Kayleigh McEnany).

Biography[]

Stephanie Grisham was born in Tucson, Arizona in 1977, and she became the spokeswoman for the American Automobile Association in 2007 before working on Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign. Becoming involved in Republican politics, she became a spokeswoman for the State House's Republican caucus, and, in late 2015, she became a press aide for Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. From March 2017 to July 2019, she served as Press Secretary to the First Lady, and she was said to enjoy "trolling" the press; on 11 July 2018, she was found to have violated the Hatch Act by using Trump's "MAGA" slogan on Twitter, indirectly promoting his campaign. In July 2019, she became both White House Communications Director and Press Secretary, succeeding Sarah Huckabee Sanders. She was replaced by Kayleigh McEnany in April 2020, having held no formal briefings during her year-long tenure. She then served as Press Secretary and Chief of Staff to the First Lady, but she resigned on 6 January 2021 to protest Trump’s incitement of the 2021 United States coup d'etat attempt.
