Stephan Mace

Stephan Lee Mace (11 April 1988-3 October 2009) was a US Army specialist who served in the US 61st Cavalry Regiment during the Afghanistan War. Born in Lovettsville, Loudoun County, Virginia, Mace joined the Army in 2008 and was stationed at Combat Outpost Keating in Afghanistan during his first deployment. On 3 October 2009, during the Battle of Kamdesh, Mace was critically wounded in the legs by RPG shrapnel, and he was rescued by his comrades Ty Michael Carter and Brad Larson before being tended to by the medic Chris Cordova. However, Mace died of his wounds later that day.
