Stanley Hazard

Stanley Hazard was an American iron manufacturer and Republican politician from Pennsylvania. The son of William and Maude Hazard and the older brother of George, Virgilia, and Billy Hazard, he took over his family's Lehigh Station factories during the American Civil War and was persuaded by his wife Isabel Truscott Hazard to sell faulty and cheap cannons to the Union Army while forging documents implicating his brother George in the act. In 1864, George confronted his brother and sister-in-law over their misdeeds, and Stanley admitted his guilt, while his wife remained defiant. After the war, Stanley divorced his manipulative wife and helped prevent her from buying the Mont Royal Plantation in South Carolina; he proceeded to embark on a political career.
