Biography
Barry Laughton was born in New Hampshire in 1984, and later came out as transgender and legally adopted the name "Stacie-Marie Laughton" in 2010. In 2012, Laughton was elected to the Nashua Board of Selectmen, becoming the first transgender elected official in the state; in 2020, Laughton became the first transgender state legislator across the United States. Laughton was arrested in 2015 for phoning in a bomb threat at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, and was again arrested on 12 November 2022 for violating a court order against stalking a woman. On 22 June 2023, Laughton was again arrested for distributing graphic child sexual abuse images, and was further charged, on 17 July, with aiding and abetting in the sexual exploitation of children.
