Spider Rico (9 June 1945-2018) was a Puerto Rican amateur boxer during the 1970s.
Biography[]
Spider Rico was born on 9 June 1945 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and he became a club fighter in the Philadelphia area during the 1970s. On 25 November 1975, Rocky Balboa defeated Spider Rico in a fight at Kensington in the second round by knockout, but he would later fight against Ken Thorton in his one professional fight, retiring after his victory. He later found work at Balboa's restaurant "Adrian's", where he worked as a dishwasher and was allowed to eat for free by his old friend. He died in 2018, and Balboa attended his funeral.
