The Special Duties Unit (SDU) is the elite tactical unit of the Hong Kong Police Department, founded in 1974. The SDU was founded by the British government to deal with the rise in international terrorism, and it was trained by SAS and SBS operatives. From 1974 to 2014, the SDU participated in 162 missions and 335 dive searches, and it came to have over 120 officers.
