The Spartacus League, also known as the Spartacists, was a Marxist revolutionary movement that was formed in 1915 by Rosa Luxemburg, Karl Liebknecht, Clara Zetkin, and other anti-World War I activists in the German Empire. In 1919, it took part in the Spartacist Uprising during the German Revolution against the Weimar Republic, and Friedrich Ebert sent in Freikorps and Reichswehr forces to crush the uprisings. Its leaders were all killed, and the organization was crushed.
