
The Soviet 3rd Army was a Soviet Red Army field army that existed from 1939 to 1945. The army was stationed in Belarus, and Vasily Kuznetsov led the army during the invasion of Poland at the start of World War II, as well as the defense of the USSR during Operation Barbarossa. Yakov Kreizer would lead the army at the Battle of Stalingrad in 1942-1943, and the army would later fight at the Battle of Kursk and take part in the offensives in western Russia, Poland, and Germany. The army was disbanded in 1945.
