Sosaku Suzuki (27 September 1891 – 19 April 1945) was a General of the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II.
Biography[]
Sosaku Suzuki was born on 27 September 1891 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He joined the Imperial Japanese Army in 1912 and rose in the ranks during peacetime, being named Vice Chief of Staff of the China Expeditionary Army with the rank of Major-General in 1938. After a number of staff assignments, he was sent to serve under Tomoyuki Yamashita during the invasion of Malaya, the Singapore campaign, and later to garrison the island of Cebu in the Philippines. In March 1945, he was attacked on Cebu by the US Army and Philippine guerrillas, and Cebu City fell on 8 April. Suzuki attempted to flee to Mindanao in the south, but he was killed by US aircraft on 19 April 1945.
