Sorin Cimpeanu

Sorin Cimpeanu (18 April 1968-) was Prime Minister of Romania from 5 to 17 November 2015, succeeding Victor Ponta and preceding Dacian Ciolos. He was an Alliance of Liberals and Democrats member.

Biography[]

Sorin Cimpeanu was born in Bucharest, Romania on 18 April 1968, and he was rector of USAMV before serving as Minister of Education from 2014 to 2015. In 2015, he was appointed acting Prime Minister following Victor Ponta's resignation, and he served until Dacian Ciolos was invited to form a technocratic government. In 2017, he left the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats and joined PRO Romania.
