Sonny Blue

Sonny Blue (1925-1968) was an associate of the Marcano crime family and the racket boss of a loan sharking and protection racket in Irish Channel, New Orleans, Louisiana under Roman Barbieri.

Biography[]

Sonny Blue was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1925, and he became an associate of the Marcano crime family. He became the racket boss of a protection and loansharking racket based in the Roberdeau Meat Packing plant of Irish Channel, and Blue and Carl Bevers were the two racket bosses in Roman Barbieri's crew. Blue feared Barbieri, who threatened him several times after Blue accumulated a debt of $16,000 to Barbieri. In 1968, Lincoln Clay decided to weaken Barbieri's rackets by taking down Sonny Blue, killing several of his enforcers. He proceeded to confront Blue at his office, and he told him that he should never have messed with "Irish Point", before proceeding to stab him in the heart.
