The Someya-gumi was a subsidiary of the Tojo-kai yakuza organization which was founded in 2015 by Takumi Someya, who split from the Sugai-gumi. The Someya-gumi and Sugai-gumi started the 2015 Little Asia fire to drive down its property values and swoop in, and the ensuing war between the local Saio Triad and the Tojo-kai allowed for Katsumi Sugai to rise from captain of the Sugai-gumi to acting chairman of the Tojo-kai and grant Takumi his own family. Someya killed himself after his proposition to Kazuma Kiryu to betray the Sugai-gumi and take over the Tojo-kai for himself was discovered, and the Someya-gumi disbanded.
