The Somali Patriotic Movement (SPM) was a political party in Somalia that was active from 1989 to 2004. The SPM began by a group of Ogadeni privates in the Somali National Army who opposed Siad Barre's communist regime, and they were based in the southwest of the country. In 1992, the SPM split into SPM Absame and SPM Harti, and SPM Ogadeni joined the Somali National Alliance in August 1992, while SPM Harti formed the autonomous state of Jubaland in 1998. The party disbanded in 2004.
