Sofiane Amghar

Sofiane Amghar (died 15 January 2015), also known as Abu Khalid al-Baljiki, was an Islamic State fighter from Belgium. He and Khalid Ben Larbi had links to Katibat al-Battar, a group of Libyan jihadists who fought in the Syrian Civil War, and they traveled to Syria in 2014 to receive training from the Islamic State before returning to Belgium. On 15 January 2015, Belgian commandos launched a raid in Verviers, targeting a 10-man terror cell, and Amghar and Ben Larbi grabbed AK-47s, returned fire against the commandos, and lobbed grenades, using urban warfare skills honed in Syria. However, the commandos successfully shot both terrorists dead.
