Soe Win (10 May 1947-12 October 2007) was Prime Minister of Burma from 19 October 2004 to 12 October 2007, succeeding Khin Nyunt and preceding Thein Sein.
Biography[]
Soe Win was born in Taunggyi, British Burma in 1947, and he joined the Tatmadaw in 1965 and rose to the rank of General. In 1997, he joined the State Peace and Development Council junta, and he masterminded the massacre of 70 National League for Democracy activists at Depayin in 2003. He went on to serve as Prime Minister of Burma from 2004 to 2007, opposing talks with the NLD. He died of leukemia in 2007.
