The Socialist Republic of Serbia was one of six constitutional republics of Yugoslavia, existing from 5 May 1945 to 28 April 1992, with Belgrade serving as its capital. The republic was established in the aftermath of World War II, with the League of Communists of Serbia being the sole legal party in the republic. The republic had two provinces, SAP Vojvodina and SAP Kosovo. In 1990, the state was renamed to the "Republic of Serbia", and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia replaced SR Serbia in 1992.
