Socialism with Chinese characteristics is the official ideology of the Communist Party of China, meaning Marxism-Leninism adapted to Chinese traditions. The ideology supports a socialist market economy, in which the state owns the majority of the means of production and adapts capitalist techniques to thrive in a global market system. However, the system has widely been cited as "state capitalism" instead of a socialist economy.
