The Snake Temple was a temple in the Valley of the Snake in Phokis, Greece. The temple was named for the skeleton of a prehistoric giant snake which was wrapped around its site, and it fell into disrepair by the 5th century BC. In 431 BC, the mercenary Kassandra killed the Cult of Kosmos guards there and assassinated their leader Elpenor.
