Slave Trade Act 1807 was an act passsed by the United Kingdom's parliament on 25 March 1807 that abolished the trans-Atlantic slave trade. The Quakers and abolitionists both supported the act, and Foreign Secretary and prominent Whig Party politician Charles James Fox led the bill in the House of Commons. The act was very important, as it ended the slave trade; however, it would not be until 1833 that slavery was abolished in Britain.
