Slaughter Housers

The Slaughter Housers were an American nativist street gang who were active in New York City's Fourth Ward from the 1840s to the 1860s. The Slaughter Housers were known for their violent muggings and murders, including dragging people into dive bars to be robbed or killed. They were also allied to the Natives gang under William Cutting, taking part in the 1863 gang war in the Five Points amidst the New York draft riots. The police cracked down on the gang and destroyed it after the American Civil War.
