Skarf Sæbbisson

Skarf Sæbbisson (829-874) was a Danish Viking who was loyal to Rued's clan during the late 9th century AD. In 874 AD, he was sent to spy on Norwich and seek out the weakest wall, which Rued and his army would attack once the brazier was lit at Dunwich. Skarf, disguised as a pig farmer, attempted to shoot Eivor with an arrow when Eivor searched for spies on the rivers around the city, but Eivor rowed his boat to the shore, cut down Skarf, tied him up, and took him back to King Oswald of East Anglia, Finnr, Valdis, Broder, and Brothir for interrogation. Skarf arrogantly spat in Oswald's face and defied his interrogators until Eivor threatened to use his axe against his rear, upon which he revealed Rued's plan to attack Norwich when signalled at Dunwich. He then taunted Valdis, saying that Rued would see her again soon, upon which Valdis angrily stabbed him dead.
