
Simon I of Sicily (1058-1105) was the King of Sicily from 1101 to 1105, succeeding Roger I of Sicily and preceding Roger II of Sicily.
Biography[]
The son of Count Roger I of Sicily and his wife Judith d'Evreux, Simon was a Norman by descent. He governed Palermo since he was 22 years old in 1080, and he was responsible for the amphibious capture of the rebel settlement of Ajaccio in Sardinia in 1102 without any bloodshed. As king of Sicily after the death of his father, he had a short reign, and died in 1105.
