
Simon Barclay Conover (23 September 1840-19 April 1908) was a Republican US Senator from Florida from 4 March 1873 to 3 March 1879, succeeding Thomas W. Osborn and preceding Wilkinson Call.
Biography[]
Simon Barclay Conover was born in Middlesex County, New Jersey in 1840, and he served in the Union Army during the American Civil War before settling in Lake City, Florida during Reconstruction. He served as State Treasurer from 1868 to 1873 and as a US Senator from 1873 to 1879; in 1889, he was appointed US Surgeon at Port Townshend, Washington, and he died there in 1908.
