Sima Yao

Sima Yao (252-293) was Prince of Dongan under the Jin. During the War of the Eight Princes, he was slain in battle with Sima Yue at the Battle of Mengyin.

Biography[]

Sima Yao was born in Dong Commandery, Cao Wei in 252, and he was a member of Sima Yi's family. Under Jin, he was enfeoffed as Prince of Dongan, and he was a minor prince at the time of the War of the Eight Princes. In 293 AD, he was worried about Sima Yue's conquest of Pengcheng Commandery, so Sima Yao declared war on him. Sima Yue retaliated by marching north with his army and slaying Sima Yao at the Battle of Mengyin.
