Silvio Ferra

Silvio Ferra (died 1 May 1947) was a Sicilian peasant leader and communist activist. His sister Giovanna Ferra married the bandit and Sicilian separatist Salvatore Giuliano, who supported Ferra's land reform activism. In 1947, he led a communist march past Piana degli Albanesi to celebrate May Day, but some of Giuliano's bandits - bribed by the Mafia boss Croce Malo - ambushed and killed Ferra and 10 other communists with machine-gun fire.
