Sigurdr

Sigurdr Ring of Svibjod (12 December 730-5 February 800), also known as Sigurd Hring, was the King of Sweden from 761 to 800, succeeding Randver of Svibjod and preceding Ragnarr Lodbrok.

Biography[]

Sigurdr Ring was born on 12 December 730 to Randver of Svibjod, and became the king of Sweden upon his father's death in 761. During the mid-8th century, he was victorious over the Danish king Harald Wartooth at the Battle of Bravellir in Ostergotland, southern Sweden, which left 40,000 warriors (including Harald) dead. Sigurdr became the sovereign ruler of all of Sweden and Denmark as a result of his victory, and he died in 800. Ragnarr Lodbrok succeeded him as king of Sweden.
