The Siege of Douchang occurred in 193 AD when the resurgent Yellow Turbans under Guan Hai laid siege to Kong Rong's capital of Beihai in Qing Province. With the help of the brave warrior Taishi Ci, Kong Rong was able to crush the uprising and put an end to the resurgence of the Yellow Turbans in his province.

In 193 AD, Governor Kong Rong of Qing Province received a request for aid from Governor Tao Qian of Xu Province, whose holdings were under assault from the Yan Province warlord Cao Cao. Just after Kong Rong raised an army to assist Tao Qian, a new rising of Yellow Turbans occurred under the leadership of Guan Hai, who led 10,000 Yellow Turbans in murdering and robbing around Beihai. Guan Hai and his followers then laid siege to Beihai and demanded that Kong Rong supply him with 10,000 carts of grain, but Kong Rong refused to feed the rebels and decided on battle.
Battle[]
Kong Rong sent out his general Zong Bao to do battle with Guan Hai, but Guan Hai slew him after very few bouts. Zong Bao's soldiers then made a panicked retreat into the city, and Kong Rong watched with sorrow as the rebel numbers increased. However, he noticed a spearman riding hard against the Yellow Turbans and scattering them; this man was Kong Rong, whose mother had reminded him of the kindness shown to her by Kong Rong. Taishi Ci cut his way through the rebels and entered the city, where Kong Rong showered him with gifts upon reuniting with him. Kong Rong was then given 1,000 troops to break the siege, and he again broke through the besiegers to reach the warlord Liu Bei, convincing him to bring 3,000 troops to the city's aid. Guan Yu then slew Guan Hai in battle, and Zhang Fei and Taishi Ci overwhelmed the rebels, many of whom either surrendered or fled. With Qing Province saved, Taishi Ci returned home, refusing any rewards; Liu Bei then marched to fulfill Kong Rong's promise to aid Tao Qian.
