Sidney T. Holmes

Sidney Tracy Holmes (14 August 1815-16 January 1890) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-NY 22) from 4 March 1865 to 3 March 1867, succeeding DeWitt Clinton Littlejohn and preceding John C. Churchill.

Biography[]

Sidney Tracy Holmes was born in Schaghticoke, New York in 1815, and he moved with his parents to Morrisville in 1819. He worked in the railroad industry  before becoming a lawyer in 1841, and he served as a Madison County judge from 1851 to 1864, in the US House of Representatives from 1865 to 1867, and, from 1872, a lawyer in Bay City, Michigan. He died in 1890.
