Sichfrith mac Imair

Sichfrith mac Imair (842-888) was King of Dublin from 881 to 888, succeeding Barid mac Imair and preceding Sitriuc mac Imair.

Biography[]

Sichfrith mac Imair was one of the sons of Ivar the Boneless, and he succeeded his brother Barid mac Imair as King of Dublin in 881. He was one of the leaders of the recently-arrived "dark foreigners" during the civil war with the "light foreigners" (Vikings who had been settled in Ireland for a longer period of time), and the "light foreigners" had some success; ultimately, Sichfrith was killed by a kinsman in 888, adn his brother Sitriuc mac Imair succeeded him.
