The Shutrukid dynasty was a dynasty of the Elamite empire that reigned in Susa from 1210 to 1100 BC. Shutruk-Nahhunte I founded the dynasty in 1210 BC on the downfall of the Igihalkid dynasty, and he launched frequent military campaigns into Kassite Babylonia, which was also being ravaged by Assyria. In 1158 BC, the Elamites permanently defeated the Kassites after the Assyrian king Ashur-Dan I conquered the rest of Babylonia. The Elamites went on to conquer Arrapha (Kirkuk) from the Assyrians before being defeated and having a treaty forced upon them by the Assyrians. Nebuchadnezzar I of Assyria later sacked Susa, only to be defeated by the Assyrian king Ashur-resh-ishi I. The Elamite empire declined after the death of Hutelutush-Inshushinak in c. 1110 BC.
