Shropshire is a county in the West Midlands of England, bordering Powys and Wrexham in Wales to the west and north-west, Cheshire to the north, Staffordshire to the east, Worcestershire to the south-east, and Herefordshire to the south. Shrewsbury is the county town with Wellington, Dawley, Madeley, Telford, Ludlow, Whitchurch, Newport, and Market Drayton being other major settlements. In 2016, the county had a population of 313,400 people.
