Otomo crest
Shigetsugu Kamon Munakata was a retainer of the Otomo clan who served with the Western Army in the Sekigahara Campaign. He was a vassal of the Nakagawa clan and Muneyuki Yoshihiro's ally. Munakata and Shonin Tahara stole a Nakagawa seal to raise troops to aid Muneyuki in the Battle of Ishigaki Plains.
