Shigeru Kido

Shigeru Kido (died 16 April 1840) was a general of the Tokugawa Shogunate.

Biography[]

Shigeru Kido was the commander of the 33,000-strong Japanese 2nd Army in Wakayama, mainly consisting of irregular troops. His army was ready by 21 January 1840 to be shipped out to Korea to fight against the Qing Dynasty in the Chinese War of Pyongyang Region, but he died on 16 April 1840 before his army could leave; they never would, as Japan made peace soon after.
