
Shigemasa Matsukura (1574-19 December 1630) was a retainer of the Tsutsui of Yamato Province who supported the Eastern Army at the Battle of Sekigahara. As a reward for his services he was given the Shimabara Domain of 60,000 koku in 1600 and in 1615 arrived as reinforcements for the Tokugawa in the Osaka Campaign, turning the tide of battle. His son Katsuie Matsukura fought against Christian converts in the 1637 Shimabara Rebellion that cost him his life.
