Shi Xie (137-226) was the Han Chinese Administrator of Jiaozhi Commandery from 187 to 226, preceding Shi Hui.

Biography[]

Shi Xie was born in Jiao Province (now Cangwu County, Guangxi), Han, China in 137 AD, and he served at the Han court as a civil servant before serving as Prefect of Wu County and then as Administrator of Jiaozhi Commandery from 187 to 226 AD.

In this position, he presided over Han rule in northern Vietnam, being appointed by the central court to prevent Liu Biao from expanding his influence to the south.

Under Shi Xie, Jiao Province was not caught up in the chaos of the Three Kingdoms period, and, in 210 AD, Sun Quan appointed Shi Xie as General of the Left after Shi Xie rescued Sun Quan' subordinate, Bu Zhi from an assassination plot by Wu Zhu.

In 220 AD, he pledged his vassalage to Eastern Wu, and he incited Yong Kai to rebel against Shu in 222 AD. As a reward, Shi was promoted to General of the Guards and Marquis of Longbian, and he died of illness in 226 at the age of 89.
