Shem (2448 BC-1848 BC) was the son of Noah and Emzara, the brother of Ham and Japheth, and the husband of Sedeqetelebab. During the Great Flood, he and the rest of Noah's family were saved aboard the ark, and he went on to father Elam, Ashur, Arphaxad, Lud, Aram and other children. He died at the age of 600, and he was the father of the Semitic peoples.
