Shelley Moore Capito (born 26 November 1953) was a US Senator from West Virginia (R) from 3 January 2015, succeeding Jay Rockefeller. She previously served as a member of the US House of Representatives (R-WV 2) from 3 January 2001 to 3 January 2015, succeeding Bob Wise and preceding Alex Mooney.
Biography[]
Shelley Moore was born in Glen Dale, West Virginia on 26 November 1953, the daughter of Governor Arch Moore, and she graduated from Duke University and the University of Virginia. She worked as a college administrator and served in the House of Delegates from 1996 to 2000, in the US House of Representatives from 2001 to 2015, and in the US Senate from 2015. She was supported by the counties bordering Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, and she was a relative moderate.
