Royal Dutch Shell plc, commonly known as Shell, is a British-Dutch multinational oil and gas company founded in February 1907 in London, England. The company amalgamated the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company of the Netherlands and the Shell Transport and Trading Company of the United Kingdom, and it was vertically integrated; it owned its own supply chain. The company was involved in hydrocarbon exploration and production, refining, distribution and marketing, petrochemicals, power generation, trading, biofuels, wind power, and hydrogen power. Shell had operations in 70 countries, produced around 3,700,000 oil barrels a day, and had 44,000 service stations worldwide. In 2016, Shell employed 93,000 people and had a revenue of $233,600,000,000.
